No. Direct-flame and high-temperature glazing needs ceramic glass, which is a different material. Tempered glass is right for decorative screen doors, surrounds and hearth panels away from direct heat.
It depends on the appliance and clearance. Tell us the unit and location and we'll tell you whether tempered is appropriate — if it isn't, we'll say so.
